And here you think you don't have any PR skills. [Said teasingly.]
We'll have to catch a lot, but I've got an idea for some basket traps with sticks and vines I think will work. I haven't had to do basket weaving in over a decade, but when in my Ancestral Homelands, we don't exactly have chicken wire available. Traps would be so much easier to make with that. I can catch them by hand, but that's only if I want to make us dinner, not a feast.
We'll need some entrails for bait. Crawfish aren't picky but they do like fresh meat best. And then corn, potatoes, onions, and some sausage for the actual boil. And lots of butter. Butter is always expensive.
[And a barrel with a lid as it will take a full week of trapping with a handful of traps to catch enough crawfish for a large group.]
I'll show you how to make them once I've got a prototype. I just need to sit myself down and work on it with a variety of sticks and vines. Dredge up those memories. It wasn't a good time in my life, so I try not to think much about it.
[But she'd be fine. She had a project, something to work on that would help people, which was the greatest key to keeping her harano at bay. Even if she had to focus on the Homelands which inevitably lead her to think about why she'd been ordered there in the first place. But Ivy didn't want to hear about it and more than Jordana wanted to talk about it.]
It would probably be... wise to do so. We invite her, set a place for her at the table, and just not let anyone else sit there if she doesn't show.
That does feel like the kind of symbolism people really go for, and wasting a serving worth of food is a fairly small price to pay. We can compost it afterward anyway.
Plus the whole part where she eats people. I'm not sure shellfish would suit her palate anyway.
I recognize that it stems from a place of fear. And like with most abusive relationships, that fear keeps the victim from breaking away until a combination of things come to be.

[It's completely out of her power set, and trading... Ivy shrugs. Even a powerful metahuman can't do everything.]
But for the rest... you'll have to tell me how to make the traps, but weaving baskets shouldn't be too hard.
[Not when you can make them weave themselves.]
I suppose we'll have to invite the Duchess. Say it's in her honor or some shit like that.
[Which, whatever, Ivy sees the practicality in not picking fights there. Over this. Like, right now.]
Maybe we'll be lucky and she won't show up.

[Jordana really hoped she wouldn't.]

[It's frustrating in abusive relationships too.]
It's hard to watch the fawning.

It's unfortunate I can't handle it all better like I do back home.

[Sarcasm. It's followed by a heavy sigh. Ivy would like not to care, but it's not as easy as that in practice.
She's never been a complete sociopath. She just has a sense of proportion when it comes to the lives of people and the environment.]
It must be hard being a good person here.
cw: murder
Surely you're not suggesting that I'm a good person. I've been hunting and killing people in vengeance for months now. Just got two the other day.
