HISTORY (Opt-Out Permission post here)

First Change

At age fourteen, Jordana underwent her First Change - the transformative phenomena when someone is chosen to be a sacred warrior of Gaia (Mother Earth) and becomes Garou - a werewolf. This was a traumatic process as she and her younger sister were in the process of being sexually assaulted by unknown men. Every man in her life up to that point had been abusive, and she'd been given the means to fight back against the atrocities done to other women, including Gaia, through the Rage given to her by the half-moon.

Rite of Passage

After a tumultuous few years of werewolf lessons during which Jordana was unruly and combative toward men in general, the mentor that took her under her wing, Alana Mother's Embrace, thought she was ready to join the Black Furies - the werewolf family/tribe that only accepted women, stood against the Patriarchy/fought for women, are the living incarnation of a woman's anger, and caretakers of Creation. They believed that women are worthy or respect, honor, and sometimes even veneration, but aren't willing to accept that women are lesser than men. Jordana underwent her Rite of Passage to join the Black Furies, passing but not without difficulty as one of the tests was a spirit quest in which she needed to demonstrate balance in her enduring rage toward men, and understanding that men had purpose and place with Gaia, and that she needed to not look at men like they were all the ones from her childhood.

Trauma, Tragedy & Bad Decisions

Tragedy was never far for Garou, and when a mission went wrong and her pack was ambushed by the enemy, terrible things were done to them resulting in the death of her packmates, her own sexual assault, and that of her mentor and alpha, Alana. Facing a horrific fate in the hands of their enemies, Alana was too injured to fight and had Jordana kill her so she could die with honor. Jordana managed to be the only one of the pack that survived after having suffered greatly. The trauma of having to kill her mentor and the circumstances surrounding children drove her to make a series of very poor decisions that went against her personal preferences in a bid to honor Alana and everything she meant to Jordana. This was how the lesbian Black Fury ended up bearing a child for Alana's surviving mate and failed to see the first signs that her sister shouldn't be trusted.

Harano

When Jordana's sister caused the accidental death of the child through negligence, it was simply too much on top of everything and something inside of Jordana broke. She fell into a mental state unique to Garou known as Harano, where the Garou dwells on how things were supposed to be, the "glory days", and the bleakness of whether anything the Garou can do will save Gaia. This hopelessness typically manifests in a supernatural depression and nihilism that's nearly impossible to break free from. Instead of killing her as some tribes might have, the Black Furies ordered Jordana to the tribe's ancestral homeland in the spirit realm to recover. It took a long time, but the support of her fellow tribal sisters, the ancestral spirits of past Furies, and some tending by her tribe's patron spirit, Pegasus, was able to salvage Jordana and pull her from Harano. The recovery process reminded her that it was the connections that they make, the care and effort put in even when there would be struggles, of women supporting women instead of tearing each other down, that give life meaning, that make the fight worth it, because Gaia needs the same support. These were the things she needed to remember and hold onto in order to stave off slipping back fully into Harano when facing loss in the future.

Final Betrayal

Jordana spent her whole life looking after her younger sister. She felt responsible for the terrible things that happened to her in their childhood as she'd been chosen by Gaia and stopped the men, but Lupe was not given that blessing. Her sister held a grudge against Jordana their whole lives for the same reason. As they grew, Lupe was easily seduced by men with ill intentions, drawing her in with promises of power, and Jordana kept making excuses for her sister, even when her sister slit Jordana's throat with silver. But when her sister agreed to trade Jordana's life to a bunch of vampires in exchange for the embrace, so she could finally have power too, the excuses ran out and Jordana could no longer let herself be blind to her sister's corruption. Still unable to kill her now-vampire sister herself, she allowed her closest packmate to do so, finally freeing both sisters from the cycle they had locked themselves into.

ABILITIES

WEREWOLF

Jordana is Garou (werewolf chosen by Gaia) born under the half-moon (Philodox) of the Black Fury tribe with the ability to change into five different forms.

Homid: normal human

Glabro: near human (neanderthal-like, stronger, hardier)

Crinos: war form (monstrous furry chainsaw of death)

Hispo: dire wolf (monstrous wolf the size of a pony with vicious jaws)

Lupus: normal wolf (naturally increased senses)

She possesses regeneration in all forms except homid, capable of rapidly healing non-supernatural/fire/silver damage. As Garou, she possesses a weakness to silver, unable to resist it unless she is in her homid form. As Garou, Jordana is gifted with the ability to speak and understand the Garou and wolf languages.

Metamorph: Jordana can effortlessly and instantly shift between her forms as though they were all the form she was born in. Unlike other Garou, Jordana has the ability to fall unconscious in any form she wishes instead of only the form of her birth (homid form).

PATRON SPIRIT

Every pack of Garou is spiritually tied together by an individual spirit. Jordana follows Black Unicorn - a spirit of war dedicated to protecting those in times of need and teaching his followers to fight with nobility and chivalry. He grants his followers better fighting skill and an additional ability to shrug off damage (preferably when defending an innocent). In exchange for his favor, Black Unicorn demands that his followers defend those that are unable to defend themselves (which is not as easy as it seems).

GIFTS/RITES

Over her decades of being Garou, Jordana has been taught many Gifts by spirits, and learned many Rites that tap into her spiritual side. This is an extensive list. Please refer to this entry for a full listing with brief descriptions. PLEASE FILL OUT THE OPT-IN PERMISSIONS FOUND ON THIS PAGE.

HARANO PRONE

Jordana has suffered in the past from a supernatural form of depression called Harano. Though she has not fallen fully into it in many years, the threat of a temporary harano persists. It ebbs and flows depending on the events going on around Jordana. Anytime she suffers a personal loss, defeat, or trauma, the chance exists that she'll experience some lesser effects of the condition.

RAGE/GNOSIS/WILLPOWER

Garou possess a deep unrelenting anger called rage that pulses inside of them that can be used to fuel inhuman speed, to fuel gifts, overcome being stunned, grant them a last-ditch healing when upon the brink of death. Rage is swayed by the phase of the moon, and comes with the potential of the Garou flying into a berserk frenzy where they destroy and kill anything around them that moves until the source of the stimulation is removed or the Garou falls unconscious. The older and more experienced the Garou, the harder it is to frenzy. Jordana has a rage rating of 4/10.

Garou have a strong connection to the land and spirit realms, expressed through gnosis. It is used to access the spirit realm called Umbra, to fuel gifts, commune with places of power. Jordana has a gnosis rating of 8/10.

A measure of a Garou's drive and discipline, willpower is a resource Garou use to push through adversity, fuel gifts, and resist impulses/outside influence. Jordana has a willpower rating of 7/10.

UMBRA

Garou have the natural ability to physically move into the Umbra - the spirit realm with many layers and individual realms within - by using their gnosis to pass through the barrier called the Gauntlet. Access to the Umbra is not available in Rubilykskoye.

MONSTER: NIGHTMARE

appearance

A very large black horse that's 18 hands (6ft) at the withers with a mane and tail that turns into fire after the first couple inches.

A single horn protrudes from the forehead that's as sharp as a blade and as strong as metal.

The Nightmare's mouth is full of fangs and possesses a prehensile tongue that's thick and splits to form an appendage similar to a three-fingered hand that can grasp and manipulate.

POWER_LIST

FLAME | Trails fire behind it when it runs, capable of setting anything on fire as it charges. It can snort fire like a short-ranged flamethrower.
FLIGHT | The Nightmare can run across air like it was solid ground, appearing to run on lines of fire.
SILVER WEAKNESS | Possesses a similar weakness to silver that Jordana has. If the Nightmare comes into contact with silver, the fire extinguishes and the Nightmare withers away to sinew and muscle, unable to snort fire or run on the air.

behavior

As the twisted version of Black Unicorn with its nobility stripped away and laid bare to assume the most corrupt aspects of Jordana's anger, the Nightmare will immediately attack any man it sets its sight on (even male children). It uses its horn as a weapon to impale, but also possesses a kick strong enough to crack wood. Conversely, it has a need to protect women/woman-identifying/NB people to extreme levels, even seeking to separate them from friendly male companions for their own protection.

To sate it's zadza, should the Nightmare get a man cornered or injured enough to no longer be able to run, it will attempt to bite the man's genitals off. When the Nightmare judges a woman is properly protected and safe, it will seek to use its prehensile tongue to pleasure adult women.

OPT-IN/OPT-OUT PERMISSIONS

Topic Opt-Out:

Jordana is an original character from the Werewolf: the Apocalypse setting (20th Anniversary Edition) of the World of Darkness. Her canon deals heavily with the atrocities mankind and supernatural forces can inflict upon each other to either destroy/corrupt or save the world. Jordana has been a victim of child abuse, child sexual abuse, rape, and the loss of a child. Whereas she doesn't often voluntarily talk about these things, she will not shy away from them should they come up. It's very possible there will be references to such acts in metatext/narration but I will avoid giving specific details about what happened.

Her concept is that of primal justice where when legal justice fails, she takes matters into her own claws. Rape is a huge red button for her as is misogyny. Her tribe, the Black Furies, do not tolerate the Patriarchy or men in general lording themselves over women/mistreating women. If you wish to opt-out of any specific topic in threads or would like me to avoid tagging your character with Jordana at all, please let me know if the form found at the bottom of this page.


Powers Opt-In:

Jordana is Rank 4 (out of 5) in Garou society and has learned many gifts and rites. Please review the descriptions of these powers found HERE. Except for the ones noted otherwise, all Gifts require conscious intentional use by Jordana and they don't always work for her. Rites require time, setup, and intention to work and they also don't always work as expected (or at all). The frequency in which Jordana can utilize her abilities is limited by her Rage/Gnosis/Willpower, so she won't be spamming her Gifts unless circumstances call for it, but please fill out the form at the bottom of this page to opt-in to Jordana being able to affect your character. Outside of the Scent of the True Form gift, I plan on discussing specific gift/rite use with players should I wish to use them, but this gives me an idea what's allowed. (I do not plan on ever using the rite: Avenge the Innocent on a fellow PC.)
